At the 2014 Beijing Motor Show starting April 20 in China, Bugatti will showcase the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Black Bess. Here has the fifth special edition Veyron part of its "Legends" series based on the Grand Sport Vitesse. Time has come for a new special edition Veyron, this time paying tribute to the Type 18 "Black Bess" which Bugatti describes as being "one of the first ever street legal super sports cars."
The vehicle was powered by an inline-four 5.0-liter engine delivering more than 100 PS (73 kW) which was enough for a 100 mph (161 km/h) top speed. It was driven in several races by company founder Ettore Bugatti who managed to take the win in the 1912 Mont Ventoux hill climb.
The penultimate Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse "Legends" model will be limited just like the others to only three units, all featuring a carbon fiber body painted in black with gold accents. Light beige upholstery was used inside while the steering wheel received red Crimson leather.
The dash panel, dashboard, cowl panel and door trim panel were covered in Havanna leather and the door panels feature the Type 18 "Black Bess" and the Morane Saulnier Type H, an airplane which belonged to Roland Garros who was one of the seven people who bought the Black Bess.
It is believed the sixth and final special edition Veyron will be dedicated to Elizabeth Junek, a well-known Czech female racer during the first half of the twentieth century. Chances are the model will be unveiled this October at Paris Motor Show.
